The World Cup games in Bloemfontein take place in the Free-State Stadium which now has a capacity of 48000 seats. The name of the stadium derives from the province where it is located.
In the stadium games of group and quarter-final games took place during the African Cup in 1996 and the IRB Rugby Wold Cup 1995. Besides the Premier League club Bloemfontein Celtics plays some of their home games at the Free-State stadium.
The stadium will be modificated for a considerable amount. After completion of the modification the stadium will provide 48000 seats. It will be a venue for the FIFA Conferations Cup in 2009, too.
